Meet Willie, Seasonal Agricultural Worker from Jamaica

I’m Wilfred (Willie) Leslie and I’ve from Westmoreland, Jamaica. I’ve been coming here for 38 years. My wife’s name is Lillie. I talk to her every day. We’ve been married for 24 years. We have two children – one is working and one is just going to school.

Back home, I did a little bit of farming; some sugar cane, some yams and banana but it wasn’t moving all that fast. Now I’m here growing apples and lavender. It helps me take home a little more money. It’s very important work because I know I am helping others eat food.

On the farm here, I do tilling. I pick and do cutting and pruning. Whatever they need help with.

For fun, I like to go out to the beach, have a few drinks and chat with my friends. If others asked me about the Seasonal Agricultural Program, I’d tell them to give it a try. Some will like it and some won’t but at least we make a try.
