Meet Juan Antonio, Seasonal Agricultural Worker from Mexico

My name is Juan Antonio Linares Hernández and I am from Veracruz, Mexico. I’ve been coming to Canada for 13 years. Working here provides me with a better future for me and my family. My wife and I have a son and a daughter. My daughter is fourteen and my young man – my boy – is three. I talk to them every day after work.

At home in Mexico, I work in the fields, growing corn. Here, on this grape vineyard, I do maintenance of wires or posts and other things. Whatever is necessary, that’s what I do. Right now, I am making holes to plant new plants.

What do I like about Canada? The landscape and that there is lots of work. Here, life is quiet and everything is very nice.
