Meet Ángel, Seasonal Agricultural Worker from Mexico

My name is Ángel García and I am from the state of Morelos, Mexico. I have been coming to Canada every year for twenty-five years. I have been in this farm since 2003 – so more or less twenty years on this farm.

My job is, right now, to plant all the vegetables, legumes, fruits, strawberries, raspberries, everything that gets harvested in June.

I come to Canada because my dream has always been to provide a better standard of living to my family, which I did not have. It is hard to leave the family in Mexico. When I first started coming here, our youngest girl was two years old and my oldest was 8 or 10 years old.

My wife’s name is Victoria Mujica Flores. My daughters’ names are María de Jesús, then Valeria and the youngest is María Trinidad. I have two grandchildren. One is Angel and the youngest Valio.

I like Canada because the people are very humble. They treat us well and give us work to be able to support our families.
