Meet Daniel, Seasonal Agricultural Worker from Mexico

My name is Daniel and I am from Tlaxcala, in the state of Tlaxcala, Mexico. I have been coming here for more than 20 years; more than 10 seasons on this farm. Sometimes I pick or I plant tomato, strawberry, cucumber, lettuce, potatoes, broccoli, lettuce, melons and watermelons.

I came to work here because for me, it is a great opportunity to learn new experiences and support my family – my beautiful wife Margarita and my three children Alvaro, Daniel and Eric. I talk to them every day.

Canada has been a country that opens its doors to us and the people are very friendly. They wait for us every year and welcome us as if it is our second home.

When I go home in November, I also work there in the fields as a farm worker. My mom and dad had a farm but they are not working anymore. My father is 89 and my mother is 79 years old. It is nice to be here in Canada. I love Canada.
